Just a Few of the Kind Things Customers Have to Say About The Old Gun Guy

Wanted to give Jerry a (virtual) high five. I needed help with sighting in a rifle scope. I was given Jerry’s contact information and told he was the best and he did not disappoint. Firstly, Jerry noticed that I had rings for my scope that were not the correct size. He helped mount the correct size rings and then helped me sight in my hunting rifle. I know if I had I tried to sight in my scope it would have taken me more time and ammo. After meeting up & getting range time with Jerry everything is set up perfectly and I’m hitting tight patterns. I cannot thank him enough. He made the entire process easy and he was extremely knowledgeable. I’d recommend if you need help (or if you’re job is keeping you too busy to sight in your weapon) get help from the expert. I now know I have been given the greatest chances of bringing home a big buck!

Had a great time training with Jerry. I’m a novice shooter at best. Within twenty minutes we had my new rifle and scope zeroed in. Over the next hour he explained ballistics and the modern apps to help with the calculations. As we started shooting 300, 400, 500, 600 yards my confidence grew with each shot. At the end of the two hour session I was hitting steel at 1000 yards. After our time was over Jerry spent the time to talk about tips, techniques and equipment that will improve my shooting. Thank you Jerry.

Good Morning Jerry,

I want to thank you again for introducing us to the sport of range shooting. We had an absolute blast. I hope we can get together again sometime soon.

Jerry Clayton, The Old Gun Guy, is an extremely knowledgeable gun enthusiast who took the time to teach and introduce me and my two kids to the sport of range shooting. He is a very patient and kind man who can teach the art of range shooting to enthusiasts of any skill set. The Old Gun Guy took the three of us to a range outside of Greenville and we had an absolute blast. Needless to say, we are hooked on the sport due to the experience. We cannot wait to spend some more time with 'The Old Gun Guy' to learn more about the sport. If you are looking for a gun enthusiast in any capacity, Jerry Clayton's knowledge and passion for guns is unmatched. I wholeheartedly recommend 'The Old Gun Guy' to any enthusiasts who are looking to enhance their experience by customizing guns, range shooting, or any other aspect of the sport.

Hello Jerry,

Thanks for the assistance to rebuild my rifle for my moose hunting trip in Newfoundland. You pointed out several areas where my 30 year old rifle need to be updated for shooting accuracy.

The hunt was successful and I shot the moose in the exact recommended area. You shooting lessons were also a nice service to be sure all bases were covered. I will definitely rely on you to guide me on future hunts where a different type of rifle may be required.

Best regards,
Len Kilby

"Good results. Only moose in Camp. About 100 yards. Weight 750#. Need to talk to you in the future about a lighter gun with excellent vision at 300 yards."

I met Jerry Clayton while shopping for a handgun for concealed carry. He was so knowledgeable about everything to do with firearms, that when I wanted to purchase a rifle to support a new interest in long range shooting, I couldn't think of anyone else I wanted to help me choose the right weapon. Not only did he help me choose the right weapon, he guided me through selecting the best scope for the money, what setup worked best for mounting the scope and even helped me to site it in. Before I met Jerry, I thought I knew quite a bit about guns. Now I realize I know next to nothing compared to him. There's almost no firearm question he doesn't know the answer to well enough to explain it to the layman to whatever depth you want to discuss it. Pistols, rifles, rifle actions, triggers, rifle barrels, materials of construction, picking the right caliber and cartridge for what you're trying to do, muzzle brakes, scopes, scope mounting hardware, bipods, … It just goes on and on. After all that, he helped me site it in, correctly use a ballistics calculator and walk it out to 800 yards. By the time we were done I managed to hit a 12 inch diamond shaped target 6 out of 8 times at 800 yards. Of course he was shooting at 1000 yards right beside me hitting more often than I did. But I was still thrilled. Many people call themselves a firearms expert. Jerry is an expert. If he suggests you do something around firearms, you'd best consider it very carefully. He's not all talk. Jerry would explain what I should be doing differently and then show me how to do it. And he does all this while being humble. Jerry doesn't talk down to you. He's one of the easiest guys I've ever met to take advice from.
